Gov't to Lift Ban on NK Humanitarian Aid

A Unification Ministry official says that current restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian supplies to North Korea will be lifted.

The official said a detailed timetable has yet to form but the ministry will lift the ban starting with the most urgent items.

South Korea has not allowed aid to North Korea, except for medicine and daily necessities, since the North launched a long range missile on April fifth.

During a meeting with a domestic relief group last week, Unification Minister Hyun In-taek said he would review policy changes that would allow humanitarian aid to North Korea by civic groups.
