The two Koreas held working-level talks on the operations of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex Thursday.
The two sides revealed their basic positions on the operation of the joint site and other inter-Korean issues during a 70-minute meeting on Thursday morning.
According to the Unification Ministry, the South’s top priority was the release of a South Korean national detained by the North.
The South’s delegation also reiterated Seoul's position that North Korea's demand for an increase in land use fees is unacceptable.
The South stressed that it will discuss matters related to the Gaeseong park based on three principles for the stable development of the industrial complex. The three standards are establishing a norm of compliance for inter-Korean agreements and contracts, seeking economic principles and promoting future-oriented developments.
In response, North Korea repeated its demand for a 500-million-dollar increase in land use fees and 300 dollars in monthly pay for North Korean workers.
North Korean representatives also called on South Korean delegates to facilitate the construction of nurseries, dorms and roads at the complex for use by North Korean workers.
