Inter-Korean Talks End Without Progress

The third round of talks between South and North Korean officials at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex has ended without progress.

The Unification Ministry said talks ended after a 70-minute morning session and that the two sides were unable to decide on a schedule for the next round of talks.

The South Korean delegation urged the North to quickly release a detained Hyundai Asan worker while asking for immediate information on his health and whereabouts. Seoul also reiterated the three principles for stable development of the inter-Korean complex and requested that all negotiations be held under the principles.

The South also asked the North to hold discussions in two groups, with one focusing on general affairs related to the operations of the Gaeseong complex and the other on specific issues at hand.

However, the North Korean delegation is said to have repeated its stance to negotiate land use fees for the joint industrial park.

The Unification Ministry said the North rejected Seoul's request to hold additional talks in the afternoon.
