The Mokpo maritime police said...the maritime police Sunday seized two Chinese fishing boats spotted fishing in South Korea's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) at 9:00 a.m. The Qingdao-registered ships were operating 24 miles west of Soheuksan Island, South Jeolla Province. Earlier in the day the maritime police captured two Chinese trawlers found in South Korea's EEZ. The seizure took place 26 miles southwest of the same island, after the 86-ton ships were spotted illegally fishing in South Korea's EEZ around 6:00 a.m. The police discovered about 1,000 kilograms of fish on the two ships. The police plans to take action against the crew of 40 on the four ships for allegedly violating the EEZ fisheries law. Twenty-six Chinese fishing boats have been caught in the country's EEZ off the western and southern coasts this year.
