Hanyang University has been selected to test-run a government-driven special academic program.

Known as the honors program, it is aimed at attracting talented students to, and nurturing high performers in, the science and technology sectors.

The government will offer a total of two-point-five billion won in subsidies from this year to the university to administer the program.

Hanyang will make preparations in the second half of this year and run the four-year special academic program for high achieving undergraduate students majoring in science and technology.

The Education Ministry expects the new program will encourage universities to put greater focus on educating competent undergraduate students.
