Gov't to Inspect 225 Areas for Cultural Assets

The Cultural Heritage Administration will carry out excavation inspections of 225 areas for possible cultural assets as part of the government’s project to develop the nation’s four major rivers.

The agency said Wednesday that after having inspected areas along the nation’s four major rivers for three months starting in February, it found more than 14-hundred sites that could possibly be housing cultural relics.

The agency will conduct excavation work and sample surveys on 225 of the 14-hundred sites.

The administration said that due to calls by civic organizations, it will also conduct underwater inspection for cultural assets in 27 areas.
