Indie Film "Breathless" Wins 13th Prize

The South Korean independent film "Breathless" won another international film festival prize this week to add to the 12 others it has already won.

The film's distributor said Friday that “Breathless” director Yang Ik-june won a best new director award at the New York Asian Film Festival this week.

"Breathless" adds the award to the 12 others it has garnered at 13 international film festivals, including awards at the Netherlands’ International Film Festival Rotterdam and Spain’s International Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The movie drew 130-thousand moviegoers in Korea since it opened in April and is scheduled to be screened in France and Japan.

The movie centers around a violent gangster with a disturbing past who begins to reflect after befriending a school girl who also comes from a dysfunctional family.
