The number of households with subscriptions to real-time Internet protocol TV (IPTV) service has exceeded 500-thousand.

Citing the nation’s three IPTV operators KT, SK Broadband, and LG Dacom, the Korea Digital Media Industry Association said the number has surpassed the 500-thousand mark only six months after the launch of commercial IPTV services.

The association also said that, overall, the number of standard IPTV service users has topped over one-point-seven million.

Increased growth in IPTV subscription figures is expected as the service operators are quickly expanding channels and upgrading networks.
