NK Hints at Bilateral Talks with US

North Korea is hinting that it could be open to holding bilateral talks with the United States to discuss its nuclear program.

In a statement issued Monday, the North’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that although Pyongyang will not take part in the six-way denuclearization talks, other dialogue channels remain available.

The ministry accused the member nations of the six-way talks of infringing upon its sovereignty by seeking U.N. sanctions against Pyongyang following its April fifth rocket launch.

The ministry said the North has no choice but to continue rejecting the nuclear discussions, claiming that the members of the six-nation talks are aiming to block the North’s development of science and technology.
