Gov't to Increase Assistance to NK Escapees

The government has expanded the scope of a law helping North Korean escapees adjust to life in South Korea.

The government held a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday to approve revisions to a related law.

With the revisions, the government will raise the subsidies provided to North Korean escapees who decide to reside in rural areas and will also give teenage escapees without guardians access to public living facilities.

The revisions to the law will by officially announced on Friday.
