According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Tuesday, Kuwait will provide $20 million dollars to North Korea for the modernization of Pyongyang's water supply system. This was included in a contract concluded between North Korea and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in Pyongyang on March 25th. Upon North Korea's funding request for Pyongyang's waterworks modernization project in 1999, the Kuwait fund had Australia's Snowy Mountains Engineering Corp. conduct a feasibility study for the project. The projects includes partial replacement of the 200-kilometer water duct and repair and replacement of water pumping and purification facilities.
