Hyundai Asan President to Visit NK next Week

Hyundai Asan President Cho Gun-shik will visit the inter-Korean joint venture Gaeseong Industrial Complex for three days starting Monday.

The company said that during the visit, Cho will focus on facilitating the release of a Hyundai Asan employee who worked at the industrial park and has been detained by North Korea for over 100 days.

The recent release of two formerly detained American journalists on Wednesday is fanning expectations that a new round of discussions with North Korea could go well.

The North has been detaining the South Korean worker, identified by his surname Yoo, since late March on charges of criticizing the North’s political system and attempting to persuade a North Korean woman to escape from the communist country.
