The national men's basketball team has advanced to the second round of the Asian Basketball Championships with a 69-56 win over the Philippines in Tianjin, China.

Yang Hee-jong led Korea with 14 points and seven rebounds, while center Kim Joo-sung chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.

Korea is leading its group in the tournament, and will play Kuwait Monday, Taiwan Tuesday, and Iran Wednesday.

Korea last won the tournament in 1997, when it edged Japan 78-76 for the title.
