Hyundai Group Chief Extends NK Stay

Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jung-eun has again extended her stay in North Korea by one day.

Hyundai Asan President Cho Gun-shik told reporters Thursday that Hyun has decided to stay an additional day in Pyongyang. This is Hyun’s second extension of her stay, as she had originally planned on returning home Wednesday.

There is no word yet on why Hyun has decided to extend her stay for another day, but observers believe the main reason for the extension is due to the fact that Hyun has yet to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

Meanwhile, Cho said he is not aware of any developments regarding the North’s possible release of a detained South Korean worker at Gaeseong.
