LA Consulate General hoists World Cup banner

The South Korean Consulate General in Los Angeles put out a large banner Friday to promote the World Cup finals among the Korean community there and the city's mainstream residents. The 7.2-meter wide, 6-meter long banner reads "Dynamic Korea Welcomes the World". Consul General Sung Jung-gyong said in an address that the consulate decided to raise the banner to stoke World Cup fever in Los Angeles. Sung said that people's active participation and support will be needed for Korea to emerge as a global player, through the successful co-hosting of the world soccer event. Ha Gi-hwan, head of the Korean Resident Association in Los Angeles, said that with only two months left before the opening soccer match, they will make every effort to interest as many tourists as possible for the event which will eventually contribute to the Korean economy. Korea and Japan will co-host Asia's first World Cup from May 31st to June 30th.
