Red Cross Proposes NK Talks at Geumgang

The National Red Cross has proposed a round of talks with North Korea from August 26th to the 28th at the North’s Geumgang Mountain to discuss preparations for inter-Korean family reunions.

Red Cross President Yoo Chong-ha made the proposal in a letter sent to the chief of the North Korean Red Cross on Thursday.

In the letter, Yoo also urged that the hotline between the two Koreas’ Red Cross societies that was cut last November be reestablished to facilitate preparations for the reunion.

A government official said the letter was sent to the North through a military communication network.
