South Korean Ambassador Yang Sung-chul donated US$50,000 to the Organization of American States (OAS) Tuesday on behalf of his government, pursuing a policy of helping the OAS peace promotion program. Donating the money in a ceremony held at Columbus Memorial Library, Yang said that the money reflects the Seoul government's interest in promoting peace in Latin America, with which South Korea has maintained a friendly relationship. He added that the OAS is playing a leading role in promoting democracy, peace and security, while expanding trade and ending corruption in the West Hemisphere. South Korea is doing much the same, by promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula through a policy of reconciliation and cooperation with the North.
