Gov't Takes Measures to Prevent H1N1 at Gaeseong Park

The Unification Ministry has decided to set up additional heat detection cameras at the inter-Korean Transit Office to prevent the spread of H1N1 influenza at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

Ministry spokesman Chun Hae-sung said on Friday that the Seoul government is devising various precautionary measures for the inter-Korean park.

Although there have been no reports of the new flu in North Korea, Seoul officials say Pyongyang must be made aware of the potential dangers, as H1N1 claimed its third South Korean life on Thursday. Overall, the South has confirmed over 33-hundred cases of the new strain since the first case was discovered in early May.

The spokesman said the government is also holding consultations with the park's managing committee and companies operating at the complex to discuss precautionary measures.
