Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Office to Reopen

The two Koreas will normalize operations at their administrative consultation office overseeing the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea starting September seventh.

The Unification Ministry said the two Koreas exchanged Thursday the lists of workers from each side who will be stationed at the Inter-Korea Exchange and Cooperation Consultation Office.

Included on the lists are 13 South Koreans and six North Koreans.

The normalization of the office is expected to ease administrative barriers South Korean businesses have had regarding inter-Korean economic cooperation projects, as the shutdown of the office has forced them to use China as an intermediary for the submission of Gaeseong-related paperwork to North Korea.

North Korea unilaterally closed the office on December first last year.
