North Korea will extend its mass gymnastics performance “Arirang” until October 17th, weeks later than its scheduled close.

In a telephone interview with Voice of America (VOA), Asia Pacific Travel, the only officially recognized American tour operator to the North, said a Pyongyang official announced the extension through an email.

This year’s Arirang event was initially scheduled to end at the end of this month.

VOA suspects the extension is intended to attract more foreign tourists.

The Arirang festival enlists some 100-thousand people for a display of synchronized acrobatics, gymnastics and dancing.
