Assembly to Inspect Imjin Flood Site

The National Assembly’s Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Committee will inspect the Imjin River flood site in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, on Tuesday.

The flood, which occurred because North Korea released dam water without prior notice, has left three South Koreans dead and three more missing.

Based on results of the field inspection, the Assembly will urge the government and related agencies for fundamental flood control and prevention measures.

Attending the field survey will be Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Minister Chung Jong-hwan, members of the ministry’s committee, and Korea Water Resources Corporation CEO Kim Kuen-ho.
