LA Museum Reopens Korean Galleries

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has reopened its galleries on Korea after a four-year expansion project.

The new galleries cover 53-hundred square meters and features 100 objects from the Three Kingdoms, Goryeo, and Joseon periods, including Buddhist and literati art, ceramics, lacquer works, paintings and sculptures.

To mark the reopening, the museum is hosting a special exhibition displaying Korean artwork borrowed from the National Museum of Korea.

The museum will hold special exhibitions on Korean art every six months in the future.

Opened in 1965, the museum draws more than one million visitors a year.

The Korean galleries were first installed in 1999.
