NK to Inspect Inter-Korean Biz Park Firms

Officials of the North Korean agency overseeing its special economic districts will visit South Korean companies operating in the joint Gaeseong Industrial Complex starting Wednesday.

The Unification Ministry in Seoul says the North's Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development notified South Korea’s committee overseeing the Gaeseong Industrial Complex Management Committee of its visitation plans on Tuesday.

The bureau said it will inspect the status of each company and listen to any complaints they may have regarding taxes, accounting or other matters.

Ministry spokeswoman Lee Jong-joo said these types of surveys have been held on a regular basis on select Gaeseong companies following a complex-wide survey administered by the North in 2006.
