Nursery to be Built in Inter-Korea Industrial Park

A nursery will be established in the inter-Korean Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

The Unification Ministry said the nursery will cover nearly 860 square meters and will be capable of accommodating 200 children.

An agreement on the establishment of the nursery will be signed with North Korea’s Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development on Wednesday.

The construction will cost 900 million won, which will come from the inter-Korean economic cooperation fund.

The North’s bureau will be in charge of operating the nursery after the construction is completed, with South Korean companies operating in the industrial park responsible for maintenance fees.

The ministry said it has promoted the construction of the nursery in a humanitarian viewpoint in respect of working mothers and their babies.

Construction will begin as soon as preparations are completed.
