A government official said Wednesday that in an effort to standardize the nation's industry, North Korea has concluded a memorandum of understanding on metrology cooperation with Germany. The official said that the MOU was signed between the North's Central Quality and Measuring Science Institute and Germany's Physics Engineering Institute during a German delegation's visit to Pyongyang March 23rd-26th. North Korea has not been active in international metrological activities in the past, but since 2000, it has participated in International Committee of Legal Metrology meetings in a bid to enhance quality control, the official said. The official said with the agreement, the German institute is expected to help North Korean experts take part in training programs in Germany and to provide measuring equipment and related materials to the North.
