Two Koreas to Build Nursery at Gaeseong Complex

The two Koreas have agreed to build a nursery at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in the North's border city.

The Unification Ministry said the South’s Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee and the North's Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development signed the agreement.

Consequently, Seoul will seek to complete the construction by year’s end.

The ministry said the construction cost of 900 million won, or over 750-thousand U.S. dollars, will come from the inter-Korean economic cooperation fund.

The 860-square meter nursery will be able to accommodate 200 children for mothers working at the industrial park.

The North’s agency will be in charge of the nursery operation while the South Korean companies operating in the complex will assist with the maintenance fees.
