The South Korean government is reviewing a new version of the North Korean Constitution.

Unification Ministry spokeswoman Lee Jong-joo said the government has obtained and is analyzing the North Korean Constitution, which was amended by the North’s Supreme People’s Assembly in April for the first time in eleven years.

The North reportedly took out the word “communism” from the document and focuses more on North Korea’s military-first or “seongun” policy and the roles of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and the National Defense Commission.

The ministry spokeswoman said Seoul will decide whether to make the details of the North Korean Constitution public after completing its analysis.
