1st Group Returns Home from NK Family Reunions

A group of South Koreans that took part in the reunion of separated families of the two Koreas has returned home after three emotional days in North Korea.

Ninety-seven South Koreans that took part in the first round of two reunion sessions shed tears as they bid farewell to their North Korean kin during their final reunion meeting that lasted from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the North’s Mount Geumgang resort.

The South Koreans’ departure was delayed at one point, as family members clung to each other’s hands from bus windows.

The group departed from the mountain resort around 1 p.m. and returned to the South via the border transit office in Goseong.

A second group of South and North Koreans will hold reunions at the family reunion center in Mount Geumgang for three days starting Tuesday.
