2nd Round of Inter-Korean Family Reunions Begins

A second round of inter-Korean family reunions has begun at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort.

On Tuesday morning, 431 South Korean participants, including 100-year-old Kim Yu-jung, left Sokcho in Gangwon Province and arrived at the resort at 1 p.m after crossing the inter-Korean border.

They met with their long-lost North Korean kin in group reunions starting at 3 p.m. at a family reunion center.

Individual reunions will take place Wednesday at the Mount Geumgang Hotel, followed by an outdoor picnic in front of the Onjeonggak recreation complex in the afternoon.

After the final reunion session on Thursday morning, the South Korean participants will return home.

In the first of the two rounds of reunions from Saturday to Monday, 126 South Koreans visited the North to meet with 233 of their North Korean relatives.
