Inter-Korean Family Reunions End

A group of South Koreans has bid farewell to their long-lost North Korean kin, bringing an end to inter-Korean family reunions that were held for the first time in nearly two years.

Some 520 members of separated families of the two Koreas held a final reunion at the permanent family reunion center at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort on Thursday morning.

Some 430 South Koreans that took part in reunions returned home via an overland route later in the day.

Over the past three days, the South Koreans held group and individual reunions with North Korean family members they hadn’t seen for nearly six decades.

Last Saturday, another group of 126 South Koreans held three days worth of reunions with some 230 North Koreans at the North’s mountain resort.
