KBS World Radio, the overseas service of Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), has teamed up with Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to help facilitate foreigners’ learning of the Korean language.

The “Let’s Learn Korean” Korean language lesson program produced by KBS World Radio will be offered on international flights serviced by Asiana Airlines starting November first and Korean Air in mid-November.

Asiana Airlines will offer the audio-on-demand (AOD) language lesson service on 53 routes, while it will be available on 35 routes serviced by Korean Air.

The program consists of basic-level conversation lessons, each about three minutes long, ranging from greetings to the use of hotels, restaurants and subways.

The ministry also plans to produce video-on-demand Korean education programs for foreign passengers of the airlines.

The ministry expects the AOD language education programs will boost foreigners’ awareness of and access to the Korean language.
