Joint S-N Buddhist Service Held in N.Korea

Buddhist organizations of the two Koreas have held a joint ceremony at Singye Temple on North Korea’s Mount Geumgang to mark the second anniversary of the temple’s restoration.

Some 50 members of South Korea’s Jogye Order and North Korea’s Buddhist Federation gathered at the temple for the celebration.

Both organizations agreed to make joint efforts for peace and unification on the Korean Peninsula.

The Singye Temple was destroyed during the Korean War. South and North Korea finished reconstructing the temple in October 2007 after three years of construction.
