Taekwondo Federation Head Retains Presidency

The current president of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) will serve a third term as the head of the international governing body for the traditional Korean martial art.

Chungwon Choue garnered 104 votes out of a total of 150 votes cast at the WTF General Assembly in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Tuesday. WTF Vice President Nat Indrapana of Thailand came in second with 45 votes.

Choue took over the presidency of the WTF in June 2004 after his predecessor retired, and was then reelected in May 2005 for a four-year term.

In addition to Choue, two Koreans have succeeded in retaining their presidency of international sporting federations, including Kang Young Joong, head of the Badminton World Federation, and Park Sang-ha, chief of the International Soft Tennis Federation.
