High-ranking officials from both Koreas are said to have made contact in China recently for discussions on inter-Korean issues.

The South explained the Lee Myung-bak administration’s bold plans to provide aid to the North in case Pyongyang agrees to denuclearize, calling for the North to respond in a sincere manner.

The North reportedly agreed on the need to resume inter-Korean dialogues at an earlier date.

Meanwhile, multiple sources in Seoul confirmed Wednesday that director-level officials from the two Koreas met in Beijing during the summer through an arrangement by China and discussed ways to resume inter-Korean dialogue.
