Yeosu Expo Committee Selects Design for Main Pavilion

The organizing committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea has selected a design by the Austrian architect Gunther Weber for its main exhibition hall.

The committee selected a total of six designs for the Yeosu complex, including Weber’s “One Ocean” design for the main hall, during a ceremony held at the Korea Press Center in Seoul on Monday.

In his acceptance speech, Weber said he aimed to integrate urban context with the natural surroundings in his design for the main hall.

The pavilion, estimated to be some six-thousand square meters in size, will be built in front of the event hall and will extend out over the sea.
