A newspaper published by ethnic North Koreans living in Japan says a fast food restaurant selling hamburgers has recently opened in Pyongyang.

Choson Sinbo says the Singaporean fast food chain is gaining popularity in the North's capital.

According to the report, the restaurant sells burgers and waffles, with a burger selling for one dollar 70 cents, or about half the average daily wage received by a North Korean.

Late last year, an Italian restaurant also opened in the communist state.
