'Tteokbokki' May be Added to Middle School Textbooks

The popular Korean snack dish “tteokbokki” is expected to make its way into a middle school textbook.

The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries says it is promoting the inclusion of tteokbokki --- which consists of stick-shaped rice cakes seasoned with hot pepper paste --- into home economics textbooks for middle school students.

The ministry is seeking to include in the textbook information related to the origin of tteokbokki, the possibilities of making it a popular dish internationally, and various preparation methods.
