Mrs. Nane Annan visits Seoul as UNICEF special envoy

Nane Annan, wife of U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, will fly to Seoul Sunday for a four-day visit as a special envoy of the U.N. International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). She will meet first lady Lee Hee-ho and National Assembly Speaker Lee Man-sup and visit the Korea World Cup Organizing Committee Monday. She will also visit a Seoul primary school Tuesday. She will attend a plaza-naming ceremony in the Peace Park near the World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong "UNICEF Plaza." Her visit has been arranged under an agreement between UNICEF and the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) to hold the Korea-Japan World Cup under the theme of children. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Mrs. Annan has served as counselor for legal affairs at the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.
