'Two Koreas to Discuss Possible Inter-Korean Summit'

South and North Korea will reportedly hold a meeting of high-ranking officials to discuss the possibility of holding inter-Korean summit talks.

Yonhap News reported Friday that because recent inter-Korean contact in a third country was between working-level officials, one that follows will most likely be between higher-ranking officials, such as special envoys.

The report follows a Thursday KBS report which said that there was a meeting between officials of the two nations in Singapore last week to arrange a summit.

Yonhap quoted a South Korean government source well versed in inter-Korean affairs as saying that although Seoul and Pyongyang widely differ on the venue for the possible summit talks, the two sides will continue to hold discussions on the matter.

The source added that an inter-Korean summit, should one be held, would most likely not take place before the end of the year.

Quoting another South Korean official, Yonhap said an inter-Korean summit may be possible after local elections in June next year.
