The total value of exports shipped from South Korea last year was nearly 400 times the total posted by North Korea.

The gap is particularly noticeable in manufacturing production, with South Korea’s automobile output over 800 times higher than the North's.

The Finance Ministry and the National Statistical Office in Seoul say South Korea's total trade volume last year was 857 billion dollars, while North Korea's came to three-point-eight billion dollars.

South Korea's nominal gross national income was nearly 935 billion dollars last year, almost 40 times more than the North's 24-point-eight billion.

Seoul also said the South’s per capita GNI of over 19-thousand-200 dollars was nearly 20 times higher than that of the North.
