Baekje Kingdom Courtyard, Waterway Found in Iksan

A courtyard and waterway of a seventh century Baekje Kingdom royal palace have been unearthed.

Buyeo National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage said Thursday that a courtyard, waterway and foundation for a building belonging to a Baekje palace have been found in Iksan, North Jeolla Province.

The institute said the 220-meter waterway, which is much bigger than a similar structure belonging to the Silla Kingdom, is believed to have supplied water to the palace.
