NHK: Koreas Were at Odds over Venue of Summit Talks

Japan’s NHK says informal contact between South and North Korean officials in Singapore last month ended without yielding any progress.

The Japanese broadcaster quoted sources close to the South Korean government as saying Thursday that South Korean Labor Minister Yim Tae-hee unofficially met with Kim Yang-gon, the North Korean official in charge of inter-Korean relations, in Singapore on October 17th and 18th.

According to the report, the South Korean side requested that an inter-Korean summit, if one were to be held, take place in Seoul, as both of the previous meetings were held in Pyongyang.

However, the North Korean official reportedly rejected the request.
