Less than ten percent of state funds allotted for inter-Korean cooperation projects is expected to be used this year.

As of late October, the government had spent 64 billion won on the projects, which is only five-point-seven percent of the one-point-one trillion it set aside for cross-border cooperation endeavors this year. Only 18 percent of the funds earmarked for last year was used.

Half of the funds that were used went to build a support center at the inter-Korean Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea and other projects aimed at paving the way for increased cooperation between the two sides.

Despite the low rate of fund utilization the government increased its fund allotment for next year.
