S-N Trade Recovers, NK Imports Top $100 Mln

Inter-Korean trade volume rose year-on-year in October, while imports of North Korean goods topped 100 million dollars for the first time ever.

The Korea Customs Service says cross-border trade grew nearly six percent to over 172 million dollars last month compared to the same month last year.

Thirty-five hundred export transactions to North Korea totaled 72 million dollars and 36-hundred import transactions of North Korean goods exceeded 100 million dollars.

The trade volume between the two Koreas grew year-on-year in both September and October after the figure fell for 12 consecutive months starting in September of last year when the global financial crisis erupted.
