Survey: S.Koreans Spend Avg. 1 Mln. Won on Lifelong Learning

Three out of ten South Koreans are taking part in lifelong learning activities and spend an average of one million won, or about 870 U.S. dollars, per year.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology surveyed 45-hundred adult men and women nationwide.

The survey found that 28 percent of the respondents are continuing their education, up one-point-six percentage points compared to last year’s survey.

Notably, 14-point-three percent replied they are trying to improve their job skills. The figure rose two-point-six percentage points from last year.

The participatns spent 997-thousand won on average, down 13-thousand won from 2008 figures.

Generally, men and younger people in cities spent more money on lifelong learning.
