The Korea Football Association (KFA) confirmed Friday that Guus Hiddink, head coach of Korea's soccer team, has ordered a media blackout to be maintained for the Korean squad's closed practice sessions. KFA said...Hiddink also reportedly asked KFA officials to give no unauthorized interviews with the team members to news organizations. A spokesman for the association stressed that no one other than Korean soccer personnel will be allowed into the Paradise Hotel on Jeju Island, where the team has booked 50 of the 56 rooms. The official said that this was to reduce the "pressure" on players in the critical final weeks before the World Cup. He said...the measures are designed to allow team members to concentrate on training and not be distracted. He added that the only interviews allowed will be those on the pitch. To make certain that this "blockade" is maintained, the KFA said that outside phone connections have been cut off from all the rooms. Hiddink has also ordered players to ignore questions raised by reporters. The KFA also said that any news organization that violates these guidelines will face "discrimination."
