Seoul Building Becomes World’s Largest Media Façade

A high-rise building in Seoul has become the world’s largest digital canvas.

The remodeled building, named Seoul Square, has over 42-thousand light emitting diode (LED) dots covering its façade from the fourth to 23rd floors.

The façade will display digital art by celebrated domestic and foreign artists.

The 99-meter wide, 78-meter high digital display is expected to earn the title of the world’s largest media canvass in the Guiness Book of World Records.

The incumbent title holder is the Dexia Tower in Brussels, Belgium.

Seoul Square is currently showing local contemporary artist Yang Man-ki’s “Mimesis-scape” and British artist Julian Opie’s “Walking People,” which alternate every ten minutes from 6 pm to 11 pm.

The building was the headquarters of the now disintegrated Daewoo Group.
