Gov't May Enlist Visa-Free Travel for Eligible Chinese

The government may introduce visa-free travel for Chinese tourists coming to South Korea on the occasion of the Expo 2010 Shanghai in an effort to attract more tourism.

In a travel competitiveness meeting chaired by President Lee Myung-bak on Friday, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry said it plans to draft measures this year to allow eligible Chinese tourists the right to visit Korea for 30 days visa free.

It will also introduce a multipurpose “Korea Pass” tourists can use for transportation, tourism and accommodation purposes while in Korea.
