Korean Pianist Wins Hamamatsu Piano Competition

South Korean pianist Cho Seong-jin has won first prize in the seventh Hamamatsu International Piano Competition.

In the final stage of the competition on Sunday in Shizuoka prefecture's Hamamatsu city, the 15-year-old pianist won the first prize to become the youngest, and first Asian, winner of the competition.

Cho also won a special prize for the best performance of a work by a Japanese composer.

The competition is held every three years.
