A month-long Korean culture festival kicked off in Geneva Monday evening (Korean time) to boost the festive mood in the run up to the World Cup soccer finals to be held in South Korea and Japan. Co-organized by Korea's Culture and Tourism Ministry and the United Nations Office in Geneva, the festival will feature Korea's traditional musical and dance performances, Korean films and video art performances by renowned artist Paik Nam-june. The U.N. office is giving full support for the festival, providing not only venues for performances, but also financial and personnel aid. The office has also published and distributed some 5,000 copies of a 38-page guidebook and publicity posters for the festival. Winding up the month-long event, the Korean Representative to Geneva will host a reception on May 30th, the eve of the May 31st-June 30th soccer tournament, to which diplomats and officials of major international organizations will be invited.
